SEAN BAKER’S ANORA WINS BEST PICTURE AT ONLINE FILM CRITICS SOCIETY 2024 AWARDS

The organization also honors Ava DuVernay, Barbara Crampton and Nicolas Cage with Special Achievement Awards and five Industry Icons with Lifetime Achievement Awards
(January 27, 2025) — The Online Film Critics Society (OFCS) announces winners of their top film honors of 2024, as well as technical awards, Special Achievement and Lifetime Achievement honors for industry leaders and icons, and the organization’s top 10 non-US released films of the year. Anora, directed by Sean Baker wins Best Picture, Best Actress for star Mikey Madison and Best Screenplay; Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance takes home awards for Best Director, Best Supporting Actress for Margaret Qualley and a Technical Achievement Award for Makeup &/or Hairstyling; Conclave and Dune: Part Two also receive multiple awards and Dahomey wins Best Documentary. Founded in 1997, members of the OFCS explore the nature of film from historical, sociological, political, emotional, technical, and other perspectives, appreciating film as a medium for art and a mode of entertainment.In addition to the 2024 top film honors, the Online Film Critics Society recognizes the work and contributions of several professionals and organizations with their annual Special Achievement and Lifetime Achievement Awards. OFCS members are invited to nominate recipients of both awards, for achievements they deem worthy of these recognitions. Receiving this year’s Special Achievement Award is Ava DuVernay, for brilliant work of her own and for supporting a new generation of female filmmakers; Barbara Crampton, super supporter of indie first time filmmakers; and Nicolas Cage, for his infinite capacity to constantly surprise everyone.Earning Lifetime Achievement Award recognition are industry titans Rick Baker, David Cronenberg, Clint Eastwood, Elaine May and Christine Vachon.
