In this Episode of “Keeping it Real with Rusty,” Hicks and Weber Honor Jesse Jackson During Black History Month, Discuss 2026 Voter Protection Efforts

On the latest episode of “Keeping it Real with Rusty”, California Democratic Party (CADEM) Chair Rusty Hicks joins California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley Weber to kick off the 2026 State Convention.
In their conversation, Chair Hicks and Dr. Weber remember civil rights legend Rev. Jesse Jackson and recount his iconic “Rainbow Coalition” speech, delivered in the very same building as the 2026 State Convention. As we celebrate Black History Month 42 years later, his words still inspire California Democrats to rise up and organize.
Chair Hicks and Dr. Weber also discuss the Trump Administration’s efforts to suppress the vote in the 2026 midterms, and what California is doing to protect voters in the Golden State and across the country.
Chair Hicks and Dr. Weber’s conversation is now available on YouTube.
The California Democratic Party is the largest state party in the nation with more than 10 million members, and helped deliver a resounding victory for Prop 50 in last year’s Special Election.
