NBC OLYMPICS SELECTS LINEAR ACOUSTIC AUDIO FOR ITS PRODUCTION OF 2018 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES IN PYEONG

Linear Acoustic to Enable NBC Olympics Delivery of Immersive Multichannel Audio With 4K Video Feed During Its Coverage of 2018 PyeongChang Olympics


CLEVELAND, OH. – February 8, 2018 – NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, has selected Linear Acoustic to provide audio upmixing and technical support for its production of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games, which take place in PyeongChang, South Korea, from February 8 - February 25. The announcement was made today by Karl Malone, Director, Sound Design, NBC Sports & Olympics, and John Schur, President of the TV Solutions Group of the Telos Alliance. Over 40 Linear Acoustic UPMAX v4 units, along with the award winning UPMAX algorithm as a plugin for AVID workstations, have been delivered to NBC Olympics for their coverage of the Winter Games. Additionally, a state of the art upmix algorithm which creates immersive audio for next generation audio formats, such as Dolby ATMOS®, will be debuted at these Games.
